This post is just a friendly reminder to all the email followers of this blog that the much anticipated docudrama “Killing Lincoln” debuts tonight at 8pm EST on National Geographic Channel! Make sure to watch it and post your thoughts and comments about it here or on Roger Norton’s Lincoln Discussion Symposium.
While I’m waiting for the debut, I’m checking out the show’s official website which contains interviews with the cast, clips from the film, and production stills. National Geographic has also created a phenomenal interactive timeline of Booth’s conspiracy and manhunt that you absolutely need to check out!
So remember, “Killing Lincoln” tonight at 8 pm EST on NatGeo. Don’t miss it!
thanks. I checked out the interactive timeline that National Geographic created. Very interesting. In past conversations a question has been asked if Booth entered the box thru door 7 or 8. The video of the shooting shows ??? ….
I was just checking timeline on NGeo’s website. There is a photo of Lucy Lambert Hale, JWB” supposed fiancé. According to this link http://rogerjnorton.com/LincolnDiscussionSymposium/thread-357.html this particularly photo has been circulating in books and the web is not Lucy but Harriet Lane, President Buchanan’s niece.

Excellent catch, Carolyn. I noticed this mistake as well.
Im looking forward to watching it. However I’m not a big fan Billy Campbell who plays Lincoln. Ill be back after the show.
First error noticed…in scene of Feb 5 photo at Gardner’s, Hanks narrates “Lincoln has 6 weeks to live.” Short by 4 weeks.
I thought Laura Keene’s line interrupting the play to acknowledge Lincoln was something along the lines of, “Don’t you know there is no more draft?”
How do you figure?
Erik,
Are you referring to my comment or Rock’s?
Dave
Rock’s!
Well, wouldn’t he be correct? 6 weeks from February 5th would be March 19th. It would be just a day short of 10 weeks from February 5th when Lincoln would die.
Holy smokes. Whoops.
Spielberg should’ve used Nat Geo’s Grant.
And Taltavul looks like Grant.
I want to see Powell’s face. Also he’s pretty easy going and slow moving for a man trying to kill another man.
Great job with the Nelaton probe. Read more about this artifact here: http://boothiebarn.com/2012/06/29/artifact-history-nelaton-probe/
Samuel Cox recognized Booth when they came to his house? I’m not sure about that. Also where’s Cox’s overseer Franklin Robey who escorts the pair into the pine thicket?
“‘Tis all that’s left OF me”
to me
I lost on math, but won’t give in on this one!
Erik,
I believe we are both wrong on this one. My knee jerk reaction when watching Killing Lincoln was, “of me” but I can see now that most transcriptions, including the one I used here on the blog, do state, “to me”. However, if you actually look at the diary page, it doesn’t have any words between “left” and “me”. According to Ford’s Theatre and the edited book, “‘Right or Wrong, God Judge Me’ The Writings of John Wilkes Booth”, the correct final line is; “Tis all thats left me”.
Though my image of the diary page is not of high quality, you can see that this is correct here: https://boothiebarn.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/booth-diary-pages-4.jpg
My favorite line: “Booth shot himself” “Nah, Corbett did.”
Gardner is psychic! He knows Powell’s real name.
Well I loved it. At first I thought Booth to be too flamboyant but he quickly grew on me. Wonderful job by all involved.
Now, how do I get my hands on one of those “Hero/Villian” movie posters?
I ENJOYED IT! IT WAS JUST LIKE SEEING THE REAL JWB WALKING AND TALKING!
THEY COULDN’T HAVE DID A BETTER JOB PORTRAYING BOOTH IN APPEARANCE!!
AMAZING!!
I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED IN THIS VERSION AT ALL. WILL WATCH AGAIN AND AGAIN AND……OF COURSE I HATE THE PART WHEN BOOTH GETS SHOT.
Jesse Johnson who plays Booth did a great job and damn he’s hot…sorry Edwin 🙂
Actor Jesse Johnson talks about his process of taking on John Wilkes Booth’s mannerisms in National Geographic’s Killing Lincoln.

Billy Campbell (Lincoln) and Jesse Johnson (Booth), who star in Killing Lincoln tonight at 8 e/p, sat down with Fox And Friends to discuss their roles. http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/fox-friends/index.html#/v/2166585637001/stars-take-you-inside-killing-lincoln/?playlist_id=86912
Dave – In conjunction with your doubts about Cox recognizing Booth, I thought the same thing at first. And then I decided to speculate that the Southern Maryland underground had already received notice to be on the lookout for the assassin with a broken leg. Where could they have gotten that information? Dr. Mudd’s trek into Bryantown could likely have been for things other than buying things for the missus. Remember his slow progress on his way back home, stopping to chat with other men along the way??? Just saying.
Since you’re cool with the nit picks, Erik, why Ford’s “Theater” instead of the proper “Theatre”? You correctly used “Washington City” instead of D.C. so I was curious.
