Transcript of Booth’s first poison pen thank you note to Dr. Stuart. Unhappy with the less than hospitable welcome he received from Dr. Stuart, Booth wrote this note and added insult to injury by offering to pay for the meal. He decided to insult Dr. Stuart further by decreasing the amount to $2.50 and drafting a new note. He took this first one and shoved it into a pocket of his diary. The original torn diary page was lost after the John Surratt, Jr. trial.
