Confederate solider Mortimer B. Ruggles as he appeared in 1897. Ruggles was among the group of three confederate soldiers who aided Booth and Herold in Caroline County.

This is a photo of his son, Mortimer Bainbridge Ruggles, Jr (this in spite of the many, many places where it is posted and misidentified). The hand on his shoulder is that of his mother, May “Massie” Walker Holmes Ruggles, who died Seaton Hall Hospital for indigent consumptives after residing there for more than 30 years.
