Advertisement for the auction of the schooner Indian by the U.S. government. The Indian was Captain Joao Celestino’s vessel which was seized by the government for running the blockade. Celestino blamed Secretary of State William Seward for the loss of his property. It was incorrectly thought that he was involved with the attack on the Secretary’s life.
