Junius’ letter to Adelaide’s mother May 1815

Cover of a letter written by Junius Brutus Booth to Mrs. Delannoy, the mother of his first wife Adelaide. Simliar to his later elopement with Mary Ann Holmes, Junius ran off with Adelaide against her mother’s wishes and married her in England. Is there an English translation for this letter? Thanks.

    • Mary,

There probably is a translation out there of this French letter, but I’m afraid I do not have one. I would recommend contacting the Historical Society of Harford County in Bel Air, MD. The have the papers of Dr. Stephen Archer who wrote the book, Junius Brutus Booth: Theatrical Prometheus. I would suspect he had this letter translated while working on his book and, if the translation still exists, they would have it. Good luck!
